Help Me Choose a Russian River or Black Sea Cruise

Share

Go Russia offers a variety of river and sea cruises and sometimes it may be difficult to choose the most suitable one. We have prepared this user-friendly guide to help you choose the right tour for you.

Step 1. Preferred route of journey which depends on the countries and cities you wish to visit. You can choose between
  • Cruises between Moscow and St. Petersburg which is probably the most popular cruise route. Besides visiting the two major Russian cities you will also visit the Russian countryside and small authentic Russian towns of the Golden Ring.
  • Cruises along the Volga river, typically of longer duration (15-20 days) that involve visiting Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Rostov and some other Russian cities and towns.
  • The Black Sea and the River Dnepr cruises. These routes will give you the opportunity to visit four different countries including Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine.
Step 2. Cruise Duration. Our cruises range from shorter 10-day trips to 20-day river voyages. Shorter cruises are advisable for those customers who are short of time. Based on our experience a 10 days period is still enough for you to explore Russia quite well and enjoy your cruise holiday although you won’t be able to see all the sights included on 11 or 12 days cruises.

Step 3. Departure date.
In Russia cruise ships start sailing in May, navigation ends late October. Within this period we have several departure dates every month, so please choose the one that suits your needs the most. If you are flexible in terms of dates it might be advisable to check alternative dates as the flights might be cheaper. Please also note, May, September and October cruises are normally less expensive.

Step 4. Boat. These are built either in Germany (majority of ships) or Austria. All boats are of a similar type and there are no major differences between them. You can view detailed boat plan on the selected cruise or alternatively visit our cruise media page with plenty of photos and videos.

Step 5. Deck and cabin. We offer accommodation on three decks on the ship: the main, the middle and the boat deck. The major difference here is the location on the ship with the boat deck being on the top where you have slightly better views from the window.

Ship entrance and reception are located on the main deck, so you might encounter more movement when staying on the main deck. Main deck is also less expensive accommodation option on a cruise.

Please note the standard cabins are the same regardless of the deck. All cabins are equipped with private facilities and a shower, wardrobe, radio, refrigerator and air conditioning. There is a large picture window in each cabin. Standard cabins are twin rooms.

If you prefer more comfort and space during your journey please chose among our Junior Suite Twin Bed and Junior Suite Double Bed packages, there are also luxury 2-roomed suites with double hotel-style beds and large living area for those who prefer travelling in style.

Step 6. Book a cruise. We hope this short guide will help you to choose your cruise easier.
