Fairy tale characters, fantastic creatures and various heroes from popular Russian books and cartoons have been sculpted in ice and placed in an area of nearly 600 square metres on Cosmonauts Avenue in St. Petersburg.
More than 1,100 tons of crystal clear ice and over 300 tons of snow have been used to create the exhibition.
An ice castle with turrets, an ice maze, a large clock can be found inside the museum pavilion. The interior of the castle has been designed to the finest detail; an ice fireplace, chairs, mirror, a bar with ice-cold dishes and even a bed with a snow blanket can all be discovered.
In order to protect the ice sculptures, a temperature of -7 degrees Celsius is maintained by some specially designed freezers.
Some artistically lit sculptures which have been designed specifically for the museum, as well as a cool soundtrack make a trip to the ice museum an unforgettable experience.
