Travel News in Russia, ex USSR, Mongolia & China

Dear valued customers,

We know that many of you are concerned with the recent political developments in Ukraine. These are truly extraordinary events and we sincerely hope a wise solution will be found soon. Go Russia continues to operate our amazing city-breaks to Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russian river cruises, trips along the Trans-Mongolian railway as well as adventure holidays within Russia. As always, we welcome you to join our small groups and to enjoy the usual Russian hospitality and culture that is on offer.

A SPECIAL NOTE ON SAFETY

Many people still associate the former USSR republics with Russia, but Russia is an independent country now and there are no political clashes or military action in Moscow or St. Petersburg.

The situation in Russia is very stable in terms of tourism and Russia continues to warmly welcome foreign tourists. There is absolutely no need to worry when you join a group tour organised by Go Russia. The usual common sense rules apply, just like when travelling to any other destination.

The EU foreign ministries (including the UK FCO https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/russia) have not changed their travel advice for Russia and do not advise against trips to Russia.

GO RUSSIA FREE CANCELLATION POLICY GUARANTEE

We are very confident that the situation in Russia will remain stable and safe and the country will continue welcoming tourists. Based on our experience we are seeing only improvements in tourist infrastructure and travel-related services across the country. However, in the very unlikely event that government warnings are issued advising against all travel to your chosen destination - and as a result tourists are prevented from travelling to Russia - we will refund all your monies paid, no questions asked. Please note, this does not apply to climbing tours to Elbrus area as the government warnings for that region were issued long time before the recent Ukraine crisis.

FINALLY, TO CLEAR UP A FEW MISONCEPTIONS
  • Russia is a dangerous country for tourists.
This is simply not true. Russia is a very safe country and people welcome foreign tourists. You just need to have common sense like in any other big city like London or New York. When travelling with us you can be assured that you will receive the very highest service and you will also be accompanied by a guide if you are on a group tour or a tailor-made travel arrangement that includes guide services. You will also have a 24-hour emergency telephone number and our professional operators will be able to assist you in any unforeseen circumstances. Please also check the travel advice from the Foreign Ministry of your country of residence (UK - https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/russia).
  • Russia does not approve visas
Not true either. There are some restrictions for some government officials and these have already been in place for some time (even before the Ukraine crisis). However this does not affect citizens, either European or US, travelling as tourists. All our tours have the visa included in the tour price and we will check your forms and lodge your documents with the Russian consulate. In the US our visa partners can assist you with document submission as well. In fact: no Go Russia customer joining our tours has ever been refused a tourist visa.
  • What do our recent tourists say?
Please read some recent postings on our guest book or on Tripadvisor.
