The government of Moscow prepared a rich event programme for guests and residents of Moscow. From May 01, 2015 to May 11, 2015, participants of festival will be able to visit different periods of Russian history beginning from 1898. The fairgrounds will feature six periods from the Russian history — the Silver Age, the New Economic Policy, Industrialisation and the Great Patriotic War, the Thaw, the era of developed socialism, and perestroika.

The festival’s opening ceremony will take place on 1 May at Stoleshnikov Pereulok, which has been decorated with flowers and converted into a flower passage.

Each site will have its own theme, for example, fashion, art, childhood and cooking. During the festival, 260 stalls will be set up for the sale of antiques, Soviet toys, dishware, garden tools, furniture, handmade accessories and much more. Eleven fairs will be located in the centre of Moscow and the rest will be held in other administrative areas.

The Moscow Spring festival will include over 2,000 festive events and will involve 88 Moscow restaurants and 100 summer cafes, which will serve menus featuring historic and national dishes.

On 9 May, meetings with veterans will be held and cultural programmes offered, including war film screenings. At 6 pm, those perished in the war will be commemorated with a minute of silence and a candle-lighting ceremony. A total of 1,945 balloons will be released into the air from all the venues.

The Two-Wheeled Spring and Flea Market art projects will also be presented as part of the Moscow Spring festival. Guests can attend fashion displays and workshops, where they will learn how to make propaganda posters in the spirit of early socialism, do pokerwork, take photos and cook. The sports programme will include Soviet-time gymnastics, checkers, chess, ping pong and sumo wrestling.

Visitors are invited to watch performances by creative groups and literary recitals and to drink soda water from Soviet-era sparkling water machines.
