Legendary Aurora cruiser is now open to visitors

The historic Aurora cruiser  in St Petersburg , a symbol of the 1917 October Revolution, is again open to visitors on 3rd of August after a two-year repair period. The newly restored ship now has exhibitions on both the Bolshevik revolution and the history of the Russian Navy.The cruiser currently has the status of being the number one ship in the Russian Navy.



Nowadays the Aurora is moored near St Petersburg’s Petrogradskaya Embankment on the Neva river and has been preserved as a museum. The number of rooms open to visitors has increased to 10, and visitors can see the crew’s quarters, the engine room and the boiler room, as well as the cruiser’s medical facilities. The exhibition’s main attractions include interactive exhibitions providing information on various aspects of the cruiser, including the ship’s design and steering system, its commanding officers and the daily life of the crew. Visitors can also learn about the general history of the Russian fleet and the Nakhimov Naval Academy, where the cruiser was used for many years as a training ship.
