Tourism infrastructure improvements on Lake Baikal

The government of Buryatia (one of the federal administrative regions in the area) has approved investment programme for construction of tourist facilities on the shore of Lake Baikal.

By 2011 all major infrastructure works will be completed and new hotels and tourist complexes will then be erected meaning more comfort for all travellers and local people in the region.

Lake Baikal is becoming more popular not only among the Russian but also foreign tourists visiting Russia. Lake Baikal is situated on the Trans Siberian railroad connecting Europe and Asia.
