According to the web portal travel.ru over 2.1 million foreign tourists visited Russia in 2010. This is six times less than the number of Russians who went abroad as tourists. Growth in tourist flow from abroad amounted to 1,6%, this is just a fraction of outbound tourism where last year’s growth hit 32%. This clearly illustrates the fact that the visa regime does not prevent the Russians from travelling.
In 2010 in total Russia was attended by around 22.3 million foreign citizens (not only tourists) from 224 countries, with majority (14 million people) from CIS countries.
Top five foreign countries among visitors include Germany (347.2 thousand), USA (162.4 thousand), China (158.1 thousand), Finland (139.2 thousand) and the United Kingdom (126,500).
