Dear Traveller,
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from Go Russia
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you. What a year 2021 turned out to be! It’s been a challenging time but we are delighted to report that we were able to take advantage of open borders this year to send clients not only to Russia – yes, it’s still possible to ride the Trans-Siberian railway all the way from Moscow to Vladivostok – but also to other countries such as Georgia, Armenia and Ukraine.
In fact, travelling right now has some advantages. Though visitor numbers are up on 2020 levels, in general they’re still nowhere near what they were in 2019. If you’ve always dreamed of seeing some of Russia’s most popular sites without the crowds, there’s still a window of opportunity before tourism returns to pre-pandemic levels.
Explore Russia in winter
Also, you don’t need to be nervous of travelling during a pandemic. At first, the additional paperwork you require might seem daunting but we’ll guide you through the process so you can be confident that your trip will run seamlessly from start to finish. If you want to hear from those who’ve recently travelled with us, why not check out some of the reviews on our social media channels or on Tripadvisor?
To tempt you, let us share details of a couple of tours from our winter programme. Russia’s already looking beautiful under its seasonal blanket of snow.
If you’re looking for a magical winter wonderland and enjoy adventure holidays, then we’d suggest you take a look at this tour to Karelia. This 6-day tour suits active travellers as you’ll get the chance to ride snowmobiles across frozen Lake Onega and to the UNESCO-listed wooden buildings of Kizhi Island. It begins and ends in St Petersburg.
If you’d rather spend a little more time exploring St Petersburg’s cultural attractions and are not looking for active holidays, this 7-day tour should appeal. You’ll still get to visit Karelia’s highlights, such as the historic village of Kinerma and of course the wooden churches, bell towers and barns on Kizhi Island. Afterwards, there’ll be plenty of time to tick off the Hermitage, Yusupov Palace and other St Petersburg must-sees.
Our new special tour – Victory Day in Moscow
Looking further ahead, we’re excited to be able to offer a Moscow tour which coincides with Victory Day for the first time. The Russian capital is always a joy to visit, but this is a particularly special tour as you’ll witness the extraordinary military parade that defines Russia’s commemorations of the end of the Second World War.
Do not be afraid of travelling. Book with confidence
We’re expecting demand to continue to rise in 2022, especially on some of our more popular tours such as our river cruises. You can book with confidence, thanks to our flexible booking policy: all of our customers are entitled to cancel free of charge or reschedule the land-only part of their holidays if travel arrangements are impacted by COVID. This includes a change to government imposed travel restrictions or a positive COVID result within three days of your planned departure date.
Many airlines also offer flexible cancellation and/or changes to bookings, some right up to the day of departure, so you don’t have to risk being out of pocket if you aren’t able to travel. We’re definitely getting a sense that there’s pent up demand, and this, coupled with travellers who are rebooking postponed tours from 2020 and 2021 mean that we’d advise you to firm up your plans as soon as you are able to avoid disappointment.
Why not give us a call to discuss your requirements?
