Our cross-country ski routes run along the ancient Russian woodlands in the Archangel region, the frozen inlets of lakes in the Kenozero national park area and through old traditional villages, where beautiful treasures of Russian wooden architecture can be found.

Enjoy the quiet beauty of the Russian North and plenty of snow, try tasty local meals and the heat of the Russian Banya in the evenings. Interactive workshops in traditional crafts will complement your experience. Our skiing itinerary will take us to and hidden village of Archangel region. It is a perfect way to enjoy the Russian winter.

Apart from the amazing winter landscapes of the Russian North, you will also have a chance to visit the capital of Russia – Moscow where you will have a guided walling city centre tour and visit the Red Square and the famous Moscow underground.

Day 1 – Sunday
Transfer from the airport to the hotel
Arrival in Moscow. Our driver will meet you in the arrival sector with a Go Russia sign board. Transfer to the hotel.
Day 2 – Monday
Moscow City Tour by Car
Red Square, St. Basil`s & Lenin Mausoleum Guided Tour
Transfer from the hotel to the railway station
During the tour we will walk around major cultural and historical points in Moscow. We will visit Lubyanka Square - the world-famous KGB centre of the Soviet epoch, and the Teatralnaya Square next to Bolshoi Theatre. Then we will continue our walk through the small central streets and lanes where every building has its own unique and interesting story. We will visit the Red Square arguably one of the most famous squares in the world. In the evening transfer to the railway station. Our driver will meet you with a Go Russia sign board at the lobby of the hotel. Departure to the Russian North.

Day 2 – Monday
Night train: Moscow - Arkhangelsk
Archangel region
Day 3 – Tuesday
Transfer to Lekshmozero village
Short circle skiing itinerary
Russian banya
Daily skiing distance: 2-3 km
We meet a local guide at the railway station and transfer to Lekshmozero village (160 km). After lunch we try on the skiing equipment and go for a short circle itinerary (2-3 km). We will also visit a small local ecological museum. In the evening a Russian banya (steam sauna) will be waiting for you. Daily skiing distance: 2-3 km.
Day 4 – Wednesday
Skiing to Maselga village and up to Khizhgora Hill
Workshop in traditional crafts
Daily skiing distance: up to 18 km
After breakfast we set out from Lekshmozero village for a day radial itinerary. On our way we will visit a small local Maselga village and go up Khizhgora Hill to see the wooden church of Alexander Svirsky, a Russian monk of the Valaam Monastery from XV century. In the late afternoon we return to Lekshmozero. In the evening we will enjoy a workshop in making traditional crafts of the Kargopol area (clay toy or similar). Daily skiing distance: up to 18 km.
Day 5 – Thursday
Skiing to Naglimozero and Sargozero lakes
Workshop in birch bark weaving
Daily skiing distance: 20 km
After breakfast we leave Lekshmozero for a day circle itinerary to Naglimozero and Sargozero lakes. On our way we will stop at the old wooden house-cell of the last monk of Naglimozero and the cross commemorating a destroyed old church. In the evening we enjoy dinner and workshop in birch bark weaving. Daily skiing distance: 20 km.
Day 6 – Friday
Skiing on the Lekshmozero lake to the sacred Fir Tree
Daily skiing distance: up to 25 km
Today we will go on the Lekshmozero lake to the sacred Fir Tree which is growing on the site of the former Cyril Chelmogorsky monastery and then further to Trufanovo village. On our way across the lake we may see the traditional way of winter fishing with nets set under the ice. We return to Lekshmozero in the evening. Daily skiing distance: up to 25 km.
Day 7 – Saturday
Transfer to Kargopol
Kargopol city tour and visit to the local museum
After breakfast we say farewell to our welcoming hosts. Transfer to Kargopol (160 km) - a small town situated on both sides of the Onega River. Kargopol is well know in Russia for its small simple clay figures painted in traditional style. After a guided visit to the local museum we will have a short walk around the town and enjoy local wooden houses and white stone churches. There will be some free time before going to the train station. You will travel on a comfortable fast train to Moscow.

Day 7 – Saturday
Night train: Arkhangelsk - Moscow
You will travel on a comfortable fast train to Moscow. Both 1st (2 berth) and 2nd (4 berth) compartments are available. Clean linen, including sheets, towels, blankets and pillows are provided for each berth. Arrival early in the morning.
