Hong Kong Extension - 4 daysHong Kong has enjoyed special status since being returned to China by the British in 1997. This prosperous and vibrant territory is a world-class destination beloved by many for its curious and unique mix of eastern and western cultures. The towering skyscrapers of Hong Kong Island and the sheltered harbour that divides it from bustling Kowloon are perhaps its most iconic sight. But there’s much more to explore: outlying islands boast secluded beaches and charming fishing villages that are surprisingly rural yet easy to reach from the city.

Hutong Neighbourhood by Rickshaw Guided Tour
Enjoy Shichahai Lake
After your arrival in Beijing, our driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Once settled in, it’s off to a hutong, a 13th century neighbourhood in the heart of the old city for a guided rickshaw ride through its narrow alleyways. Moving on to Shichahai Lake, we visit the interesting Drum Tower and have the option of a boat trip. There’s a lot of history in this part of the city, from the houses once the home of princes to atmospheric old courtyards.
Day 2 – Monday
Guided Tour of Tiananmen Square
Guided Tour of the Forbidden City and Imperial Palace
Summer Palace Guided Tour
Guided Tour of the Badaling Great Wall
The Forbidden City houses the Imperial Palace, home of the emperor during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Undoubtedly, this will be a highlight of our sightseeing programme today with its myriad ancient wooden structures which led to its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It stands at the edge of Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest city square, gaining notoriety in 1989 as the place where government troops dramatically ended a pro-democracy protest in front of the world’s cameras.

Later in the day, we’ll make our way to the Summer Palace, in a beautiful lakeshore setting at the edge of the city, and then to the Great Wall of China.

Stretching for thousands of miles and over two thousand years old, the Great Wall of China may not be seen with the naked eye from space but it is a sight to behold. The stretch at Badaling is closest to Beijing and was also the first to be restored. As you walk on the wall, you can only imagine what life would have been like at the time of its construction. Moving rapidly through the centuries, we arrive at the Olympic Green to see the buildings erected for the 2008 Summer Games including the famous Bird’s Nest Stadium.

There are 1st class (2 berth compartment with one lower and one upper berth) and 2nd class (4 berth compartment with two lower and two upper berths) carriages on this train. First class compartments also feature an arm chair, a small table and a toilet with a shower shared between two neighbouring compartments. Second class compartments do not have private facilities, there are two toilets (one at the beginning and one at the back of each carriage) and no shower in the second class carriage. Hot boiled water is available in carriages and train attendants provide thermos kettles. The train has a dining car and a bar with reasonable prices.

We are very happy to have served thousands of happy customers who travelled with us.
The punctuality of drivers and guides they’re command of English excellent, and the itinerary was a perfect mix of cultural experience, trips and free time.
We had an incredible time on our Go Russia trip! All of the arrangements worked out perfectly - from transfers to tour guides to accommodation and activities - we honestly couldn't have asked for a better, more exciting, adventurous and enjoyable holiday. We would 100% recommend Go Russia!
Although all our guides shared a lot of information and seemed very educated about the tours, our guides in Moscow (Nadia), Yaketerinburg (Olga) and Beijing (Judy) were fantastic, especially Judy in Beijing. She was so fun and sweet. I would have loved to spend more time with her. Walking on the Great Wall was fantastic.
Punctual and knowledgeable guides made our tour into the trip of a lifetime
Go Russia was efficient and responsive to all my enquiries, I would like to mention Julia who was exceptionally helpful in answering all my enquiries and assurances given to a single female traveller. Jelena at the Visa office was also very helpful, thank you. I would recommend Go Russia without any hesitation and would definitely use them again
The local guides and drivers were first class. They all took really good care to ensure that all of the programme was followed. It was an adventure but thanks to the guides and drivers we felt secure at all times
Overall, the trip was fantastic. We had a great group of 6 from Moscow to Beijing who got on well together, which made for a entertaining time, particularly on the trains. We learnt an enormous amount from all the guides and this made the whole trip really interesting. Thanks for a great experience!
-Everything went smoothly - especially transfers -Ability to upgrade to first class on the train - other tour companies around same price did not offer this feature -Professionalism of travel agent we dealt with before our tour - quick responses, questions answered well -Quality of guides in each location
The scheduled was followed nd everything was on time. All transfers were as outlined. The program was perfect for me.
All our guides were friendly, knowledgeable and willing to share their culture with us.
