Xian
Xian is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, having held that position under several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history.
Xi'an is located in northwest of China and lies on the Guanzhong Plain in central China, on a flood plain created by the eight surrounding rivers and streams. The city borders the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains to the south, and the banks of the Wei River to the north. Hua Shan, one of the five sacred Taoist mountains, is located 100 km away to the east of the city.
Xi'an has a temperate, continental climate influenced by the East Asian monsoon. Summers are hot, and humid and winters cold and dry. The tourist season runs through summer (May–August), although the most pleasant season for visiting Xi'an is Autumn.
Located in the centre of China, Xian has continental monsoon climate. Summer is hot and wet while the winter is dry and cold. Autumn is cool and a good time for visiting Xian, in fact October is the high season for travelling in Xian.
Xi'an is mostly known for being the eastern terminus of the Silk Road and home to the Terracotta Army. The city has also other many important historical sites, such as the Mausoleum of Qin Shi Huang, several burial mounds, tombs of the Zhou Dynasty kings, royal mausoleums and tombs from the Han Dynasty, numerous Tang Dynasty pagodas.
